Gulf Coast Dermatopathology Laboratory is a full-service dermatopathology lab founded in 1981 under the direction of John L. Millns, M.D. and maintains accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Our dermatopathologists, John Millns, M.D., trained at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine and is board certified in both Dermatology and Dermatopathology. Mustafa Mohammad M.D.and Hugh Stoddard, M.D. are board certified in Dermatopathology and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Our support staff includes ASCP licensed histotechnologists, histotechnicians and full customer service department. Teamwork is the key to providing consistently accurate and timely results. We utilize state of the art equipment and extensive diagnostic reagents and immunoperoxidase stains to provide the most accurate results possible. This coupled with a strong personal relationship with our referring clinicians has made GCDL the success it is today.

Meet The Doctors

  • John Millns, MD

    Dr. John Millns was born and raised in Toledo Ohio. He received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Toledo and his medical degree from the Ohio State University. Following an internship in internal medicine at the University of Missouri Dr. Millns completed his dermatology residency and fellowship in dermatopathology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

  • Mustafa Mohammad, MD

    Dr. Mustafa Mohammad was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri. He attended the University of Missouri where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Science and graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and with departmental honors. He attended Tufts University School of Medicine before completing his Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident.

  • Hugh Stoddard, M.D.

    Dr. Hugh Stoddard grew up in South Carolina where he graduated with a degree in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina in 2006. He went on to medical school at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he developed a passion for skin pathology. He further developed his love of Dermatopathology during fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh and throughout subsequent hospital and private practice experience that has brought him from the West to the Southeast. Dr. Stoddard is Board Certified in Dermatopathology and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
